The Organisation

ACON is a health promotion organisation based in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) community, with a central focus on HIV. ACON has built on its history as a HIV/AIDS organisation by applying our skills in health promotion, advocacy and in provision of care and support services to focus on a broader range of health issues for our communities.

The Role

The LGBTIQ Breast/ Chest Cancer Project Officer will be a member of the Women’s Health team, implementing the #TalkTouchTest health promotion project focused on increasing breast cancer awareness and screening among Lesbian, Bisexual and Queer Women and all LGBTI people in NSW. This includes peer education activities, partnership development, health promotion activities, grant administration, resource development and event management.

This project is funded by the Cancer Institute of NSW to increase breast screening among women most at risk of developing breast cancer. Our campaign will include breast and chest cancer information and advice for all our communities.

This is a full time position (35 hours/week) based in Surry Hills and is offered on a fixed term contract. The contract period is 12 months fulltime (or longer on a pro-rata basis). Some travel within the greater Sydney Metro area and/or regional NSW, as well as occasional weekend or evening work will be required. Flexible working hours may arranged by agreement.
